A PRACTICAL PRODUCT VIDEO BUYING GUIDE
Product video production brief and delivery checklist.
For US brands, ecommerce teams and agencies—and buyers worldwide—this worksheet connects a quote to the files you need. Velnox films real products in Zhuzhou, Hunan, China. Send an initial brief, not a finished script: after scope and quote are agreed, our team develops the shooting plan and script for your approval before filming.
The short answer on cost and scope
Our reference ranges are US$150–500 / finished video and, for suitable batch projects, US$100–300 / agreed item*. *An agreed batch item is defined in the quote; it is not automatically a complete film or a monthly package. Complexity, duration, quantities, versions, specifications and usage affect the quote. The rows below are planning prompts, not a priced package or a past client's delivery list. Confirm scope and fees before production.
Reference ranges, not fixed fees or a cap for every project. The final quote depends on filming complexity, creative requirements, video duration, quantity, versions, delivery specifications and usage scope. Special production requirements are quoted separately; confirm the scope and price in writing before production.
1. Compare what is being made—not just the headline price
List new filming and edits separately. Name the intended placement, such as an Amazon or Shopify product page, a Meta ad or a TikTok post, then confirm its current specifications.
| Requested item | What to specify | Quantity & fee |
|---|---|---|
| New filmed master | Product, story, actions, duration, aspect ratio and language. | Agree the film count; quote separately. |
| Edit variant | Hook, cutdown, ratio or caption version; identify the source master and any new shots. | Count each agreed version; quote separately. |
| Selected footage / B-roll | Named actions or shots, approximate clip length and clean-file requirements. | Agree selected clips; not automatically all camera originals. |
Do not multiply a reference range into a package total. A different opening is not necessarily another complete film; new filming changes the scope. For internal approval, use the actual written quote: keep its reference/version and any stated validity conditions with the final delivery list, confirmed total and currency, included/excluded costs, usage, review scope and payment schedule. Confirm undecided terms; these examples are not a past client quote or an amount to pay.
2. Prepare a sample that can actually demonstrate the product
Before shipping, confirm how the sample will reach our China studio. Buyers worldwide can send it from their location or arrange supply through a factory or warehouse in China. Confirm the filming plan and script remotely before production, then review the draft online.
| Check | Information to confirm |
|---|---|
| Model & version | Exact SKU, finish, firmware and the version shown in approved product information. |
| Accessories & compatibility | Required cables, power supply, mounts and compatible demonstration devices; agree who supplies them. |
| Packaging & condition | Whether unboxing matters, included parts and any preparation that would affect a sealed-box shot. |
| Operation | For setup or feature use, agree the viewer's task, starting state, steps that must remain visible and visible end state against the approved operating instructions. Include safe operating limits; discuss undecided steps with us before plan approval. |
| Approved claims | Supported selling points, required wording and claims or comparisons to avoid. |
| Sample logistics | Confirm intake, shipping responsibility, customs considerations, sample availability and return arrangements before sending. |
Do not post private access codes or an address in a public brief. Discuss confidential setup requirements through the agreed business channel.
3. Give feedback an editor can act on
Nominate one approval owner and consolidate comments against the same draft. Approve the shooting plan first; review the edited sample against that agreed direction.
| Record | Useful feedback |
|---|---|
| Version + timecode | Identify the draft filename and exact moment, rather than only saying ‘change the middle’. |
| Change + reason | State the required correction, replacement wording or preferred existing shot. |
| Model, steps & technical review | For functional demonstrations, nominate who checks the shown model, essential steps, on-screen wording and agreed narration against the approved instructions. This can be the same person as the approval owner; confirm target-language and pronunciation review in the plan. |
| Correction or new request? | Separate a mismatch with the approved plan from a new concept, product action or additional filming request. |
| Approval owner | Resolve conflicting comments and record which version is approved. |
Review rounds and change handling belong in the agreement. Flag a changed brief before assuming additional filming is part of an edit.
4. Check the files before handing them to your publishing team
Match the digital handoff to the agreed list. Your team publishes or runs campaigns; receiving production files is not the same as buying media management.
| Check | Accept against the agreed list |
|---|---|
| Individual files | Filenames, master films, variants and selected clips; count each category separately. |
| Specifications | Duration, aspect ratio, resolution and file format for each destination. |
| Sound & text | Language, voiceover or spoken presentation, music, captions and any separately agreed clean versions. |
| Usage & permissions | Permitted platforms, territories, duration and any music or creator-identity authorization required. |
| Revision record | Approved final version and resolved feedback, so an earlier draft is not published by mistake. |
Request missing or unreadable files against the checklist. Platform acceptance and campaign performance are not established by a successful file transfer.
An editable first brief, not homework before we talk
A product and a goal are enough to start. Leave undecided items blank. After scope and quote are confirmed, Velnox develops the filming plan, copy and script for your approval before filming. This template helps the conversation; it is not a contract, automatic quote or fixed package.
Include only non-confidential information, not passwords, account credentials or unapproved product details. This brief is not sent or saved automatically; edit it, then copy it into your preferred communication channel.
SEPARATE THE CREATIVE REFERENCE FROM THE FILE COUNT
Use complete films to choose what the product needs.
These existing production studies help discuss handling and filming for a new project. They are not old footage for resale, past client delivery lists or proof of ad results.
